At approximately 08:05 UTC, December 12, 2012, NOAA-18 SBUV Chopper Motor stalled resulting in a sudden increase in current and temperature.  

This anomaly occurred December 12, 2012 , rendering the SBUV instrument inoperable.  Engineering is working on the problem but does not expect any improvements in the near term.  ESPC will continue to provide updates as they are provided.
