*Details/Specifics of Change:*A SSMIS rain rate retrieval anomaly has
been observed over CONUS starting from 21 ~ 22 Z, Jan 02 2013, where
erroneous rain are reported over land covered by snow while no
precipitation is actually reported. The problem has been reported to
FNMOC for further investigation and possible fix. Given the impact of
the anomaly on the blended RR product and its persistency and large
impacted area, a decision has been made to temporarily remove the SSMIS
rain rate data from the blended RR product. As a result, the blended RR
product will be generated with slightly reduced spatial and temporal
coverage.
