The improved GOES sounder retrieval algorithm (Li algorithm) will be made operational on February 21, 2013. The NESDIS Single Field Of View (SFOV) application provides a real-time, atmospheric sounder products suite (temperature and moisture retrievals, clear-sky radiances, cloud top parameters, skin temperature, atmospheric stability indices, ASOS SCPs, Ozone, and Derived Product Imagery) from the GOES East and West Sounder instruments on an hourly basis over the Continental United States and adjacent waters. This operational implementation also includes the system hardware upgrade to the VMWare that will reduce the level-1 product latency from 25 minutes to 7 minutes and level-2 product latency from 25 minutes to 20 minutes to meet the user requirements. * * Web Site(s) for applicable information: *http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Products/atmosphere/soundings/index.html** * *Contact Information for Further Information: * *Awdhesh Sharma * *Physical Scientist NOAA/NESDIS/OSPO/SPSD/Satellite Products Branch NOAA Center for Weather and Climate Prediction (NCWCP), Rm 3619 5830 University Research Court College Park, MD 20740 Phone: (301)683-3229 Fax: (301)683-3297 * ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov and 301-817-3880 This message was sent by ESPC.Notification@noaa.gov.
