Subject: Administrative, Reminder: SATEPSDIST User Re-Validation, Topic: ACTION REQUIRED - SATEPSDIST User Re-Validation Date/Time Issued: June 14, 2013 1735 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: This impacts all users who access SATEPSDIST1-7 Date/Time of Initial Impact: May 14, 2013 1215 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: June 16, 2013 2359 UTC Details/Specifics of Change: ACTION REQUIRED! This is a reminder about our on-going User Re-Validation of our SATEPSDIST servers. These are the NESDIS servers for McIDAS and some non-McIDAS files (primarily GOES products). If you would like continued access to there servers, and haven't already responded, please reply ASAP to nesdis.data.access@noaa.gov and let us know when you will be able to complete the re-validation form. ESPC will be retiring the SATEPSDIST servers this fall. This includes: SATEPSDIST1 – GOES Product Server SATEPSDIST2 – GOES-East McIDAS Server SATEPSDIST3 – GOES-West McIDAS Server SATEPSDIST4 – Polar Data Server SATEPSDIST5 – Model Data Server SATEPSDIST6 – MeteoSat McIDAS Server SATEPSDIST7 – MTSAT McIDAS Server They will be replaced with new GEODist servers for McIDAS access. All non-McIDAS product access will be moved to the Data Distribution Server (DDS). As part of this effort, all SATEPSDIST users must complete a User Re-Validation using Data Access Request (DAR) form and return it to nesdis.data.access@noaa.gov by COB Monday, June 16, 2013. Please complete for form fully, including a signature. Ensure you include justification for real-time data access. When you return the form, please title your email “SATEPSDIST User Re-Validation”. On the DDS, users are provided access only to the data they are approved to receive. Similarly, on the new GEODist servers, access controls will be added for McIDAS ADDE access. It is very important that you carefully list all the datasets that you need operationally. If you are a model data user, please also include the range of forecast hours you require (e.g. gfs.tHHz.pgrb2fHH data out to 48 hours). Due to ever increasing data distribution requirements, datasets without operational users may be removed. This change coincides with the ESPC migration to new GEOProd product processing servers. The plan is for data to be available on the DDS and new GEODist servers 30 days prior to making the GEOProd and GEODist servers operational. The SATEPDist servers will be kept running for two weeks after the operational change-over date. The exact dates will be announced as they are known.
