Subject: Administrative: New Sensor Processing System (SPS) software --047d7b339c75867a5504f715ee03 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1 Topic: New Sensor Processing System (SPS) software release Date/Time Issued: April 15, 2014 1450 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder data Date/Time of Initial Impact: April 21, 2014 2045 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: Permanent change Length of Outage: Permanent change Details/Specifics of Change: On April 21, 2014, a new Sensor Processing System (SPS) software version (10.4.1) will be released on for GOES-15 (GOES-West). The new SPS release 10.4.1 replaces version 10.2 and corrects GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder shortwave channel (15) striping. This problem was initially observed during GOES-15 (GOES-West) Post-Launch Testing (PLT) and was discovered to be due to detector-to-detector and line-to-line (East to West vs. West to East) differences. The correction algorithm corrects both problems in real-time (line by line).
