Details/Specifics of Change: The Environmental Satellite Processing Center (ESPC) plans to perform an abbreviated failover to the Critical Infrastructure Protection (CIP) site on Thursday, July 24, 2014 at 1500 UTC. During this time, LRIT will not have products that are sent to the LRIT system in the CIP over the internet. The MTSAT imagery that is normally send after 15:00 UTC will be lost. The MTSAT imagery normally sent after 16:00 UTC may be lost although every attempt will be made to ensure delivery. We believe that all of the environmental charts and messages will make it out but we may lose some during the 15:00 to 16:00 UTC hour. The GOES LRIT Imagery, Copy of GOES DCS on LRIT and the Copy of EMWIN on LRIT will not be affected. The purpose of the exercise is to conduct an abbreviated failover exercise at the remote CIP Facility to verify external user and Office of Satellite and Product Operations (OSPO) Satellite Analysis Branch access in the event of a catastrophic failure at NOAA Satellite Operations Facility (NSOF). Testing will include an MPLS failover. No data or products will be distributed from the CIP. An one (1) hour delay will occur. The exercise will not be done on a Critical Weather Day, or if there are other significant operational issues warranting postponement. If a Critical Weather Day is declared on July 24, 2014, this planned work will be postponed.
