Weekly Operations Schedule Issued on 09/10/14 at 14:57:41 Seq Nr: 1 Planned activities for week 42/2014: GENERIC SERVICE INFORMATION 14 August - 31 December 2014 The EUMETCast-Europe DVB-S2 Basic Service is operational. A parallel operational phase with DVB-S is provided till 31 December 2014, at which date the DVB-S service will end. During eclipse seasons, stray light affects the way the spacecraft instrument is commanded. There are periods where the black body calibration is performed after the instrument retrace instead of prior to it. This delays files for the time of the calibration approximately three minutes) which then affects the data timeliness in the same way. This nominal calibration activity during eclipse season will therefore cause periods of noticeable delays to reception of data by Users. OGDR, OGDR-SSHA and OGDR-BUFR products may be degraded for 2 hours after the manoeuvre. This will affect the sea surface height, but not the wind and wave content in the products. FUTURE EVENTS METEOSAT 0 DEG SERVICE 20 October 2014 - 24 October 2014 Planned maintenance on the MSG Ground Segment involving migration to a new hardware platform. On 23 October, there will be an associated risk of interruption to the Meteosat-10 products for up to 2 repeat cycles. Users may also experience degraded production reporting during this period. With this new hardware platform, the meteorological product generation will be modified - it will only start after the reception of the complete Meteosat image. There will be no changes to the products but this will have a small impact on the dissemination: products may arrive slightly earlier or later than presently expected. The difference in dissemination times may, in some cases, be up to 2 minutes. This will be done for a trial period of one month, after which, unless differently announced it is foreseen that the HRV upper window movement will be applied operationally. The AVHRR GDS Level 1 products and AVHRR regional data will be temporarily degraded. GRAS data will be degraded for up to 4 hours after the manoeuvre. A touch-up in-plane manoeuvre may be performed the following day. This will be confirmed in due time. 29 October 2014 Metop-A In-plane manoeuvre SEM and GOME data will be unavailable. A temporary degradation of the quality of GRAS Level 1 products is to be expected starting at the time of the manoeuvre. All AMSU-A, ASCAT, ATOVS, AVHRR, HIRS, IASI and MHS products may have temporarily degraded quality geo-location data after the time of the manoeuvre. Exact outage times to be announced closer to the day of the manoeuvre.
