Subject: Administrative: GOES-15 (GOES-West) RSO Test for Hawaii --001a113832f0d067fd050566a358 Content-Type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8 Topic: GOES-15 (GOES-West) RSO Test for Hawaii sector is scheduled for October 15, 2014 Date/Time Issued: October 14, 2014 1900 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Imager Data and Products Date/Time of Initial Impact: October 15, 2014 1830 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: October 15, 2014 2030 UTC Length of Event: Approximately 2 Hours Details/Specifics of Change: To further improve its operations in the Pacific Region, the NWS has requested NESDIS to include additional sectors to the GOES-15 (GOES-West) Rapid Scan Operation (RSO) schedules. As an operational demonstration, NESDIS plans to conduct a transmission and data processing test of the GOES-15 RSO (Hawaii sector) on October 15, 2014, from 1830 UTC to 2030 UTC. The Hawaii sector will replace SUB-CONUS sector during that time period. A special GOES-15 RSO test schedule will be used for the two hour period. There will be an increased number of GOES-15 (GOES-West) Rapid Sectors, with decreased coverage for the Southern Hemisphere and smaller Northern Hemisphere scans. If a Critical Weather Day is issued by the NWS, the test will be postponed.
