Subject: GOES-15 Sounder IR Detector Patch Temperature Change This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_fg70Qd2qb4oWVDzJ9Y5odw) Content-type: text/plain; charset=UTF-8; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT Topic: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder IR Detector Patch Temperature Change POSTPONED One Week Due to Critical Weather to October, 23, 2014 Date/Time Issued: October 16, 1405 UTC Product(s) or Data Impacted: GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder Data Date/Time of Initial Impact: October 23, 2014, at approximately 2100 UTC Date/Time of Expected End: October 23, 2014, at approximately 2230 UTC Length of Outage: N/A Details/Specifics of Change: On October 23, 2014, SOCC Engineers will change the GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder patch temperature from its MID set point (85 K) to its LOW set-point (82 K) starting around 2040 UTC (4:40 pm EDT) during the space craft housekeeping period. The temperature transition will take approximately 2 hours. The IR soundings between 21:00-22:30 may be effected by striping/banding until the temperature is stabilized at its new setting around 2230 UTC. The signal to noise ratio and responsivity for IR channels will improve as a result of operating at a lower patch (detector) temperature.
