The existing GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder East-West emissivity coefficients in use since GOES-15 Post Launch Test have been in slight error, and the new emissivity coefficients delivered by the instrument vendor will correct these errors. Upon this changeover users can expect to see small improvement in accuracy of the GOES-15 (GOES-West) Sounder calibrated radiances, most noticeably on channel 8 (11 um band). The improvement is not uniform, and will depend on both the detected Earth scene temperature and the time-of-day (via the diurnally varying temperature of the Sounder scan mirror). * **Contact Information for Further Information: * ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov at 301-817-3880 * **Web Site(s) for applicable information:* See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/messages.html for this and other satellite related messages.
