The temperature transition will take approximately 3 hours. Most of the temperature transition will happen during the 08:22-10:01 sounder outage due to stray light contamination around the space craft eclipse. However, the next three images (10:01 CONUS, 10:24 Hawaii, and 11:01 CONUS) may be effected by striping/banding until the temperature is stabilized at its new setting around 1100 UTC. GOES-15 patch changes are necessary to minimize temperature fluctuations around each equinox due to the cooler blanket anomaly and Yaw Flip operations. The signal to noise ratio and responsivity will improve as a result of operation at a lower patch (detector) temperature.
