Subject: Administrative: Special GOES-15 (GOES-West) Alaska Region This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_B1KxBoIL6j6jXopiZ6z9Hg) Content-type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT *Topic:* Special GOES-15 (GOES-West) Alaska Region RSO Sectors Broadcast Test on April 22, 2015 -- RETEST *Date/Time Issued:* April 16, 2015 1755 UTC *Product(s) or Data Impacted:* GOES-15 (GOES-West) Imager Data and Products *Date/Time of Initial Impact:* April 22, 2015 1600 UTC *Date/Time of Expected End:* April 22, 2015 2000 UTC *Length of Event:* Approximately 4 Hours *Details/Specifics of Change:* Due to some AWIPS processing issues observed during the live GOES-15 (GOES-West) Alaska RSO sector broadcast test on March 17, 2015, NESDIS has subsequently made software changes and is scheduling another live broadcast to verify its results. Following the objective of the first, NESDIS plans to conduct a transmission and data processing test of the GOES-15 Alaska "SITKA" and "TPARC" RSO sectors on April 22, 2015, from 1600 UTC to 2000 UTC, broadcasted from GVAR and the NWS AWIPS SBN. A special GOES-15 RSO schedule will be used for the four hour test period. Specifically, from 1600 UTC to 1800 UTC, the "SITKA" RSO sector will be broadcast, and from 1800 UTC to 2000 UTC, the "TPARC" sector will be broadcast. These two Alaska RSO sectors will replace the data transmission times of the SUB-CONUS RSO sector in the Standard GOES-15 West GVAR RSO schedule. There will be an increased number of GOES-15 (GOES-West) Rapid Scan Sectors with decreased coverage for the Southern Hemisphere scans. If a Critical Weather Day is issued by the NWS during the planned test period, the RSO test will be rescheduled for April 23, 2015. *Point of Contact for Further Information:* ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov and (301) 817-3880 *Web Site(s) for applicable information:***See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/GOES/EAST/sched.html and http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/GOES/WEST/sched.html for GOES standard operational scanning schedules.
