As of 1900z Jun 12, Star Tracker 2 on GOES-15 remains offline.GOES-15
remains fully operational as GOES-WEST, utilizing a single star tracker
to maintain attitude control.Product accuracy continues to remain
within
specifications approximately 95% of the time.
NOAA engineers downloaded telemetry from GOES-14 Star Tracker 1,
providing Ball engineers with a telemetry sample from a known good star
tracker and validating the command procedure used to gather data from
GOES-15’s Star Tracker 2 (ST2).This data is being compared with data
from ST2 to help determine the root cause of the star tracker failure.
Boeing provided a list of Recommended Operating Procedures that will
require update for single-star-tracker operations.NOAA engineers are
reviewing the list in order to prioritize Boeing’s update efforts.**
In the absence of a significant change of status, the next status
update
will be published on Friday, Jun 19th.
