To ensure operational readiness, NESDIS plans to conduct a GVAR direct broadcast and AWIPS data processing test of the GOES-15 American Samoa RSO sectors on December 15, from 1700 UTC to 2000 UTC. A preliminary GOES-15 RSO schedule will be used for the three hour test period. The American Samoa sector will replace the direct GVAR broadcast times of the SUB-CONUS RSO sector in the Standard GOES-15 (GOES-West) RSO schedule. Concurrently, five American Samoa RSO image sectors will be produced and distributed to the NWS SBN for delivery to AWIPS sites. The following /new/ WMO Headers will be used to identify the imager channel used for the each American Samoa RSO AWIPS sector transmitted: TIGZ01 KNES - Visible TIGZ02 KNES - 11 microns (IR Thermal Window) TIGZ04 KNES - 3.9 microns (IR SW) TIGZ05 KNES - 6.7 microns (IR WV) TIGZ06 KNES - 13 microns (IR "CO2") There will be an increased number of GOES-15 (GOES-West) Rapid Scan Sectors with decreased coverage for the Southern Hemisphere scans. If a Critical Weather Day is issued by the NWS during the planned test period, the RSO test will be rescheduled. *Point of Contact for Further Information:* ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov and (301) 817-3880. *Web Site(s) for Applicable Information:*** See http://www.ospo.noaa.gov/Operations/GOES/west/rso.html for the GOES-West RSO scan time schedule.
