Subject: Administrative Reminder: Update #1 Planned NOAA WCDAS Power This is a multi-part message in MIME format. --Boundary_(ID_7qfEsZpogi+m5IL9os/pjA) Content-type: text/plain; charset=utf-8; format=flowed Content-transfer-encoding: 8BIT *Update #1: *NOAA Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) Power Outage**is schedule to begin at 1200Z.** EMWIN for GOES West will be available and EMWIN for GOES East will not be available. * Topic:* Planned NOAA Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) Power Outage is scheduled for May 11, 2016 *Date/Time Issued:* May 11, 2016 1130Z *Product(s) or Data Impacted:* All Wallops CDAS GOES, POES and other operational services will be affected. For complete data impact listing, please see Details. *Date/Time of Initial Impact:* May 11, 2016 1200Z *Date/Time of Expected End:* May 11, 2016 2359Z *Length of Event:* 8 to 12 hours *Details/Specifics of Change:* On Wednesday, May 11, 2016, the NOAA Wallops Command and Data Acquisition Station (WCDAS) is planning a partial site power outage. The outage is required to troubleshoot and perform repairs on the Station's critical power system. All WCDAS operational systems are powered by this system. Station “Utility” power, which provides for noncritical systems such as facility lighting, cooling, etc., will not be affected. The Technical power outage can be expected to last as long as 12 hours although there is a possibility the work will be completed within a shorter time period. This work will NOT be done on a Critical Weather Day, or if there are other significant operational issues warranting postponement. This planned outage will be postponed if a Critical Weather Day is declared on May 11, 2016. The backup date is June 8, 2016. The following services will be impacted by this outage: Meteosat-10 HRIT data will not be available to U.S. NOAA DOMSAT broadcast users for the duration of the outage. During the outage, substitute imagery can be found at EUMETSAT’s web site: http://oiswww.eumetsat.org/IPPS/html/MSG/IMAGERY/ Local Readout Ground Systems (LRGS) will not be available through NOAA, but will be available through the USGS Emergency Data Distribution Network (EDDN) Wallops Deep Space Climate Observatory (DSCOVR) will be unavailable for the duration of the outage. Wallops Advanced Composition Explorer (ACE) will be unavailable for the duration of the outage. The Wallops OSPO Backup Facility (OBF) for NESDIS’ Environmental Satellite Processing Center (ESPC) will be unavailable for the duration of the outage. SARSAT will be fully operational with limited backup capabilities. Wallops Argos calibration signal support will be unavailable for the duration of the outage. OSPO will likely lose the ability to provide Emergency Managers Weather Information Network (EMWIN) services. NOAA technicians are researching a solution to mitigate a potential EMWIN outage. Other NOAA satellite tracking, and data processing and distribution systems will transition to backup facilities for the duration of the work and should not be impacted. GOES-13 and GOES-15 data will be available during the duration of the outage as they will be transitioned to the backup facilities. No loss in ability to provide all POES data, products and services to all users is expected. POES operations will be transferred as required (to FCDAS or Svalbard). GOES Data Collection System (DCS) will transition to the backup system and will not be impacted. At the close of this outage window we expect all services to resume as normal. If you find that any of your services are still affected after the close of the outage window please, contact information listed below. * **Contact Information for Further Information:* ESPC Operations at ESPCOperations@noaa.gov at 301-817-3880 *Web Site(s) for applicable information:* See http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/PS/SATS/messages.html for this and other satellite related messages.
