The purpose of the exercise is to validate the ability to fail over the ESPC Multi-Protocol Label Switching (MPLS) network to the CIP system and the ability to then switch back to the NSOF facility. During the test, there will be no network connectivity to the operational Data Distribution Server (DDS) from outside the NOAA Satellite Operational Satellite Facility (NSOF). Since the CIP test does not include jason-2 and Jason-3, near real-time users will not be able to access Jason-2 and Jason-3 OGDR products via the DDS during the test. However, OGDR-BUFR files will still be available via the Global Telecommunication System (GTS). The Facility Backup Exercise will begin at 7:50 AM EDT. The CIP site will be the operational ESPC system for approximately four (4) hours until the exercise is failed back. The return to nominal ESPC operations at NSOF will be established by 12:00 PM EDT. For the duration of the test, the majority ofOGDR products will be generated by EUMETSAT and made available via the GTS and their EUMETCAST system. The PDA server should be available during this time for users who have a subscription.
