The Volcanic Ash Advisory Mailing List is for those who wish to receive our Volcanic Ash Advisories (VAA) as they are issued. We will make every effort to keep this list up and running, however it is not considered an official method of distribution. The primary method of dissemination will remain as described on our Methods of Product Distribution Page. This Mailing List serves those who do not have easy access to primary sources. It is not a discussion list. List members are not allowed to post messages.

These messages will not contain the attached graphics which may be available on our website. Please check the Washington VAAC Volcanic Ash Advisories page http://www.ssd.noaa.gov/VAAC/messages.html for these graphics.

Subscribe

It is very easy to subscribe.

1. Send an e-mail to majordomo@gp5.espc.nesdis.noaa.gov
1. This e-mail should contain the word subscribe, followed by the list name (vaac_list), and the e-mail address where the message will be sent.
   (example: subscribe vaac_list johndoe@somedomain.com)
2. The e-mail subject header will be ignored, and you should delete any extra text including your signature file from this message.
2. The e-mail address in your subscribe message will be sent a coded confirmation message.
3. This confirmation code must be returned before you receive any VAA messages.
4. Once successfully confirmed,
1. You will receive a welcome message.
2. VAA messages will also arrive as they are issued.

Unsubscribe

It is very easy to unsubscribe.

1. Send an e-mail to majordomo@gp5.espc.nesdis.noaa.gov
1. This e-mail should contain the word unsubscribe, followed by the list name (vaac_list), and the e-mail address where the message are being sent.
   (example: unsubscribe vaac_list johndoe@somedomain.com)
2. The e-mail subject will be ignored, and you should delete your signature file from this message.
